Embellishment & Stone Setting
Turn a design into a stone-by-stone placement map or a hand-work handoff sheet.
Embellishment digitizing resolves a design into individual placed elements — each stone, sequin, pearl or bead at an exact position and size — and outputs either an automatic machine file / cut template or a printed karigar sheet for hand-work. The map, not the picture, is what the setter or machine follows.

How embellishment reaches the machine
Embellishment covers stones, sequins, beads, mirror, zardozi, kundan and hardware, placed by machine or by hand. It splits into resolving abstract regions into thousands of exact elements, then emitting a machine file, a cut template, or a karigar PDF.
The embellishment software landscape
How today’s tools position — and where each leaves a gap.
| Tool | What it is | The gap |
|---|---|---|
| Sierra Hotfix Era | Professional hotfix/rhinestone desktop software. | Windows-only; price-opaque; dated page. |
| DAS StoneCut / Funtime / WinPCSign | Established rhinestone template tools. | Windows desktop; mixed reviews; you type stone sizes manually. |
| PictoRhinestone / RhinestoneMine | Online image-to-template converters. | Narrow size range; login/paywall; often PNG not cut-ready. |
Where embellishment files fail — and how to avoid it
Buyers repeatedly ask for two things the incumbents fumble: mixed stone sizes in one design, and a genuinely free, in-browser photo → cut-ready file (not a decorative PNG). A real template also has to resolve stone size (SS6–SS30), spacing and collisions — an image alone will not set.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I convert an image into a rhinestone template?
- The image is resolved into individual stones at real sizes (e.g. SS10) on a spacing grid, with collisions removed, then exported as a cut-ready template — not left as a picture.
- Can one design use multiple stone sizes?
- Yes, and it should — mixing sizes is how detail is preserved. It is also a frequent gap in older rhinestone software.
- What is a karigar sheet?
- A printed placement guide for hand embellishment — showing each element, size and position — so a karigar can set stones or zardozi by hand from an exact map.
